I thought that the performance was amazing, it’s not your typical Hansel and Gretel story it’s definitely something new. The start of the production is amazing. Most of the room is dark but when the narrator reads from the book it glows in the dark! The effects of the show were awesome. As the puppets come on they look creepy but as the show continues they become cute… The edition of Hansel and Gretel that they do is the brothers grim, it is very creepy and dark, but the people who write reviews make the show sound scarier than it actually is. As a 13 year old I didn’t find the show all that scary. The show starts with some opera by the narrator, telling the beginning of the story. I like how the people who are carrying the puppets follow them with their eyes and make faces for the puppets. As the show develops they bring more props on which are very artistic. In the background there is a video close up of the puppets and a background for each scene. Throughout the show there is a bit more opera. When the narrator tells the story most of it rhymes, I like how when the narrator says any line she shows so much emotion in her voice and on her face. I like the effects of the gingerbread house are done by putting wooden bricks together. My view of the stage was amazing I was right in the middle I could see everything. The only thing I don’t like about the show is that you can see the people controlling the puppets this lets everything down. The show has live music and loud speakers. The people at the side of the stage play the music and make sound effects, I saw one lady rubbing blocks of sand paper together to create the sound of waves at sea. I think that the performance was weirder than it was scary. One bad thing about the performance was the swearing, there were a few swear words which I found inappropriate. If you are under 12 I don’t recommend you go to the show. There wasn’t much to the show it would be better if there were more props, as a puppet show I think there wasn’t enough puppets. I understand that the story is Hansel and Gretel but there should of at least of been puppets for the mom and dad, I also think there should’ve been a puppet for the witch. Overall I think the performance was good but it could’ve been better! I give these performance 3 stars. I think the puppeteers should get extra credit because their job is really hard. The narrator did her job well by projecting her singing the rest was alright. BOOK TICKETS NOW!!!!!!
